Support

Over the years I’ve become a bit lowest-common denominator as far as my expectations of support are concerned. Most of it sucks, and occasionally - just occasionally - you come across an organisation that actually meets your expectations.

Today was a day when I came across both extremes. Firstly there was nPower, who blow chunks in the customer service department. It’s taken them over 12 months to continually screw up a single electricity account, and I’m still no nearer getting things sorted. Then on the other hand there’s Hosting Unlimited. Their support isn’t perfect, and their hosting service is a tiny bit rough aroundthe edges in certain parts - but boy, do they beat expectations. I thought I’d bought hosting services for a year. Turns out I’ve bought not just that, but an ecommerce engine, forums, two blogging platforms and more besides, all of which are installable through a one-click web front end.

And to cap it all, I finally got a copy of pmwiki up and running, something which outwitted me for a loooong time while I struggled with oneandone’s so-called support. So I’m going to bed completely geeked out…
