I’ve just found an undocumented featurette on my iRiver: the line-out and headphone jacks operate simultaneously in playback mode. Which means that - gasp - two people could listen to the same music at the same time. Surely this must be illegal - I’m expecting a cease-and-desist notice at any time now…

Sony Minidisc players have been doing that for years! And I’ve had a splitter for a long time now that lets you plug two sets of headphones/speakers into one socket.
Ohoh, this means we can even tapecopy the music over to a casette-tape. Now the music industry is in real big trouble. I wish you never told them…
